Colourful, extremely coarse-grained render surface

For a visual and tactile material experience

The "Marianum" is a private Catholic school on the grounds of the Hegne monastery near Konstanz. This has been expanded to include a long, two-story new building that offers space for an additional training branch.

For the sake of uniformity, the architects wanted to keep the facade in the same bricks that are already used in the existing building, but this could not be done. As a successful alternative, the facades were completely rendered and the colour matched to the brickwork of the existing buildings. The extremely coarse-grained render surface provides a visual and tactile material experience and gives depth, and thus a certain value. The finer surface application in line with the ceilings emphasise the strong horizontality of the building.
